PROGRAM
Day 1
Enjoy your first glimpse of Italy as you arrive at Pisa airport.
Travel to residence la Mezzaluna (1 hour and 15 minutes) where you will have a glass of wine and meet the Chef Rita Lucherini and talk about the weeks activities.
Then settle and relax in your home away-from-home.
In the evening chat with the locals at Alex's wine bar while you enjoy a little wine tasting and dinner.
Day 2
After breakfast, you will head to the medieval village of Barga where you can admire it's ancient streets and 11th century Cathedral.Barga offers picturesque views of the Serchio Valley.
Savour a light lunch in a local cafe.
Back at the kitchen you will have your first cooking lesson. Put on your Mezzaluna apron and get ready, today's lesson is the art of pasta making. We will spend 3 to 4 hours making pasta from scratch, then cook it up with the delicious Italian sauces we prepare as well. Perhaps we will even have time to make a dessert of tiramisu or flan.
Relax on the veranda as we savour the delicious meal we prepared together.
Day 3
After breakfast we will head to Pisa to admire the ancient Piazza Miracoli and famous Tower of Pisa.
Back to Lucca to enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.
Wander the unique shops and admire the historic cathedrals and squares.
In the evening le'ts head back to La Mezzaluna to enjoy a BBQ together.
Day4
After breakfast we will head to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana to wander around the sprawling market and have lunch in a local wine and grocery store.
Back at La Mezzaluna it's time to get you apron on for lesson 2. Today's lesson id dedicated to the fine art of pizza and focaccia cooked in our wood fired brick oven.
Hot from the oven you will savour your meal as Alex entertains us with his beautiful singing and live music on the veranda.
Day 5
After breakfast we will say farewell as you head back to Pisa airport
The course is for beginners and we will learn the basics sauces such as ragu, salsa di pomodoro, home made pasta, cheese and spinach filled ravioli, gnocchi, pizza, focaccia, tiramisù, torta di ricotta.
Daily Lessons are available. Cost of a 4 Hour Cookery lesson with Meal Wine is €100 per person. You will be given the recipes and a Mezzaluna Apron .
Classes are hands on and are 2 to 10 people.
